Why Chiropractic is a Family Affair: A Personal Note from Dr. Hayden

The past year has been a total whirlwind of excitement for my family! Adding baby Simea to the mix has brought so much joy to our home, but it’s also a daily reminder of why I’m so passionate about the care we provide here at Meyer Chiropractic and Nutrition.

Since joining the team in 2022, I’ve loved getting to know our neighbors in Hermann and Montgomery City. But I often get asked, "Do you really adjust your own family?" The answer is a huge YES. Ever since I graduated from Logan University in 2019, chiropractic care has been the "secret sauce" for the people I love most—my wife Sarah, our 5-year-old son Amias, and now little Simea.

Real Life: Sleepless Nights & Dirty Diapers

I’ll be the first to admit it—I’m right there in the trenches with you! I know all about the sleepless nights and the endless cycle of dirty diapers. I also find myself constantly in awe of (and worrying about!) my wife, Sarah. She is a driven mother and wife who works a full-time job as well. I often joke that Sarah is my "neediest" patient, but since she was my first-ever patient back in the day, I guess she’s earned it! I truly get how tough it is to balance a career and a home life, which is why I give my absolute all to everyone in my life—whether I’m at home or here in the practice with you.

Supporting Mom: From Pregnancy to Super-Mom

Many people don’t realize how much chiropractic helps during pregnancy. I adjusted Sarah through her entire journey with Simea to keep her feeling her best. By keeping her aligned, we were able to tackle those pregnancy aches and set the stage for a smoother recovery. Now, it’s what helps her keep up with the demands of her job and two very active kiddos!

Starting Strong: Baby Simea’s First Adjustment

Simea

Simea had her first adjustment right after she was born! Don't worry, pediatric chiropractic isn’t about the "cracks" you hear with adults. It’s a super gentle touch—about the same pressure you’d use to check if a tomato is ripe. For infants, it’s all about a happy nervous system, which can help with the "fun" stuff like colic, reflux, and better sleep (for everyone!).

Amias: Our 5-Year-Old Soccer Star

Amias

Watching Amias grow into a little athlete has been a blast. He’s becoming quite the super soccer player—just like his mom! (I’ll humbly add that I played soccer in college, too; in fact, that’s actually how Sarah and I met!)

Amias is such a believer in the "Meyer Method" that whenever he sees Sarah getting adjusted, he insists on going first! He’ll often ask me to "fix his back" or give him a "massage."

  • Ear Ache Champ: Amias has still never had a single ear infection. He frequently asks for ear adjustments when he blows his nose too hard, gets water in his ears from swimming, or if they are just bothering him. Keeping everything draining properly is likely the big reason he's stayed so healthy!

  • The "Cold-Kicker" Routine: When the sniffles start, we reach for Standard Process Children’s Chewable Congaplex to boost the immune system and Children’s Chewable Tuna Omega-3s.

  • Surprising Perks: Chiropractic is amazing for things you might not expect—like asthma, allergies, constipation, and even deep, sound sleeping.

Join the Family in Hermann!

I absolutely love working with families. There’s nothing better than seeing a parent bring their kids in and knowing we’re helping that next generation grow up healthy and strong.

If you’re a stay-at-home parent looking for a natural boost for your child—or just need a little "tune-up" for yourself—come see me during my daytime hours in Hermann (9 AM – 3 PM). It’s a great time to beat the after-school rush!

Why We Share Our Story

I share our family’s journey because I truly practice what I preach. Chiropractic and great nutrition aren’t just my job; they’re how we stay happy and healthy as a family, and I want that for your family, too!
